Thursday 14th July – Save Suffolk Libraries need you!

6 Jul

Did you know… …that, contrary to reports in the media, all 44 public libraries in Suffolk are under threat of closure. The Conservative majority in Suffolk Council has a new leader but the cuts to services continue.

Suffolk has a long tradition of excellent libraries via an interlinked network of branches in towns and villages throughout the county. If you want to read a particular book and the only copy is held on the other side of Suffolk, reserve it online or at a branch for free and you’ll be informed when it’s ready to collect from the branch of your choice. Books give us power. Now this great service is being cut at the centre and libraries are under real threat. They want to ‘divest’ libraries to volunteers and eventually remove funding. How can they survive that?

Come and join us On Thursday 14th July at 12 noon at Endeavour House, Russell Road, Ipswich come and join library campaigners and supporters from all over the county. Bring food & drink plus a library book or two for a picnic, library book swap, read-in, ‘Save Suffolk Libraries’ t-shirts, banners, press, TV, who knows? Let the Councillors know that you value your libraries!

Please feel free to print the flyer and pass on to your friends, the more the merrier!
